Pre-workout « energy boost » recipe

Blueberry, chia, and coconut milk rocher

A true « energy bomb » that will boost your workout

Anouck Grau, founder of the blog « A la french food », and former pro snowboarder, gives us the recipe of her « energy bomb » !

In order to prevent bloating, cramps, or any stomach issues, it is recommanded to maintain a time gap between your meal and your workout. Yet, some people do not feel at ease exercising on an empty stomach.

These rochers are the perfect pre-workout snack. Grab a bite before you go to the swimming pool, before a cold winter surf session, or if you need a quick and comforting energy boost during the afternoon !

Chia seeds are remarkable fuels for your body. These tiny seeds are high in protein, fiber, calcium, antioxidants, and omega-3s.

This delicious and convenient snack will give you enough energy, without being too heavy on your stomach.

Rocher Myrtilles, graines de chia et lait de coco


  • 1/4 Cup of chia seed
  • 1/2 Cup of coconut milk (or coconut cream)
  • 1/4 of water
  • 2 tbs of honey
  • Blueberries for the topping
  • 1/cup of a good quality of dark chocolate


Mix together the chia seeds, along with coconut milk, water and honey, and store in the fridge for about 4 hours (or even overnight). Chia seeds will develop a gelatinous coating. When the consistence is hard enough, form little balls with your hands . Add 2 blueberries on top, and place in the fridge for an hour.

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Once it’s smooth enough, use a big spoon to wrap the top of the preparation with the chocolate. Put the half-way made rochers in the fridge, wait 30 minutes and finish to put the chocolate on the bottoms. After another 30 minutes in the fridge, those delicious bars are ready to eat.

TIPS : You can freeze them and eat them one at the time. It will defrost really easily.
